  • Description: Origins and development of the Cold War In this block we will look at the origins of the Cold War which began in 1945. We will examine the end of the Second World War and how the Cold War was born out of this previous conflict and the ideological and territorial demands of East and West. We will look at the development of the Cold War through the 1940s and 1950s, including the arms race, space race and physical conflicts. LO1: To explain the origins of the Cold War. LO2: To analyse how and why the Cold War developed. LO3: To examine sources and develop a deeper understanding of the Cold War at the time. LO4: To evaluate the most important reasons for why the Cold War developed.
