  • "A Midsummer Night's Dream", written around 1595 by William Shakespeare, is one of his most popular plays. In Athens, Theseus and Hippolyta are to be married, but at the same time, a lovers' quadrangle, involving four young Athenians, is being played out, the rehearsals for the play to be performed by the workmen at the wedding are taking place and this is set against the background of a wood full of fairies. Add in a little magic, comedy and confusion and you have "A Midsummer Night's Dream". We will be studying plot, structure, characters and context and there will be plenty of opportunity for students to perform key scenes. PLEASE NOTE: This class starts a week early on Wednesday 8th June as Diane isn't available on Wednesday 29th June and 6th July.
