Content

  • People, Family and Transport

    After exploring daily life in Block 2, this block focuses on expanding vocabulary and fluency to describe people, relationships, and everyday contexts.

    Learners will build confidence in connecting signs to real-life scenarios - from family to work, and how we get from A to B!

  • Course Objectives:

    By the end of this block, learners will be able to:

    Use BSL to describe family members and relationships (e.g. mum, uncle, cousin)

    Sign a range of occupations (e.g. teacher, nurse, shop assistant)

    Describe physical features (e.g. height, hair, eye colour) accurately

    Name and describe modes of transport (e.g. bus, train, walk)

    Combine family, work, and travel signs into simple conversations and descriptions

BSL Tutor & KS3 Topic Tutor

Hi! I’m AJ and I’m a qualified primary school teacher who has been teaching and tutoring Nursery-Year 9 since 2015! Time flies when you’re having fun! I started my teaching career in mainstream, where I taught a boy who had recently lost his hearing. I was passionate about ensuring no child was left behind and so I enrolled in sign language classes. After teaching the entire school BSL and raising awareness for sign language, I just knew I needed to be a Teacher of the Deaf. And what do you know? I now teach in a Deaf school in London, using BSL all day everyday. My class pop up on the BBC quite often! I am fully qualified to Level 3 BSL but intend to go further, when I have a minute!

  • How do I access the live sessions?

    You will receive a confirmation email from Zoom, containing details of your live registration.

    You will also have a reminder one hour before the start of each class.

    The live session can be accessed from the 'Join Webinar' button in these emails.

  • I've missed a session, can I have the recording?

    All recordings are uploaded within 24 hours to here - your dashboard - so you can watch whenever is convenient.
