• Description: nance 1 We will be studying the Pearson Edexcel iGCSE Business specification 4BS1 between September 2023 and July 2025. For this block we will cover 50% of the Unit 3 Business Finance content. I prefer to start with the financial unit as students can find this the most challenging but with practice, it starts to become natural. The two year content is as follows: Unit 1 – Business activity and influences on business: This section covers the various objectives of a business, changing business environments and the criteria for judging success. The focus is on the importance of having clear business objectives and how the business environment provides opportunities for, and imposes constraints on, the pursuit of these objectives. Unit 2 – People in business: This section looks at people in organisations, focusing on their roles, relationships and management in business. Unit 3 – Business finance: This section explores the use of accounting and financial information as an aid to decision making. Unit 4 – Marketing: This section focuses on identifying and satisfying customer needs in a changing and competitive international environment. Unit 5 – Business operations: This section examines the way organisations use and manage resources to produce goods and services. At the end of the course learners may or may not chose to sit the two exam papers. L/O: 1. To explain sources of finance. 2. To understand cash flow and forecasting. 3. To calculate costs and revenue. 4. To calculate the break even point.
