Content

  • Finance - Part 1

    This first finance block gives students a powerful, confidence‑boosting introduction to the core financial concepts they need for success in both Paper 1 and Paper 2.

    Across a series of focused, practical sessions, learners will build a strong understanding of sources of finance, costs, profit, break-even analysis and cash flow forecasting - the essential building blocks of business decision‑making.

    We’ll break each topic down into simple, memorable steps, showing students not just what the formulas and concepts mean, but how to apply them in real exam scenarios.

    Through guided examples, worked calculations and structured modelling, students will learn how to approach finance questions with clarity and accuracy.

    Alongside content revision, learners will complete targeted exam practice, including short‑answer calculations, explain questions and applied analysis tasks. They’ll develop the confidence to interpret data, show clear workings and write answers that earn marks consistently.

    By the end of this block, students will feel more secure with the numbers, more fluent with the terminology and far more prepared to tackle finance questions under exam conditions.

Business IGCSE, Law, Criminology Tutor

Hello! I’m Carla and I teach a variety of Secondary Social Science sessions in the Hub. These currently includes Business, Law and Criminology. I am a Freelance Educator who enjoys a variety of roles. My most recent role outside of the Hub has been a Deputy Headteacher which I have thoroughly enjoyed. I am also an Educational Advisor for Claire House and examiner with a leading exam board. I have almost 20 years’ teaching experience and have led the pastoral care of students for the vast majority of my career. I have vast experience of leading Alternative Provision within the secondary system and that is why I adore the Hub and our learners within it soooooo much. I am based close to my home city of Liverpool, have three children and two cats. I love music and always start my sessions with a song whilst everyone is joining. During my free time you will find me exploring the UK and France in our caravan. Hope to see you soon in one of my sessions.
