  • Finance: Part 2

    Can be done in isolation but builds on IGCSE course

    This second finance block gives students a clear, confidence‑building introduction to the core financial documents and analysis skills they need for success in Unit 3. Through a series of structured, practical sessions, learners will demystify statements of comprehensive income, understand what profit really shows about a business, and learn how to interpret financial performance with accuracy and insight.

    Students will explore the key components of the income statement and learn how each figure helps managers make informed decisions.

    We’ll break these ideas into simple, memorable steps, showing students exactly how to calculate, explain and interpret financial information in real exam scenarios.

    Alongside this, learners will build fluency with essential accounting ratios and liquidity measures, understanding what they reveal about a business’s financial health. They’ll also examine the purpose and usefulness of financial documents, developing the confidence to read, analyse and apply them effectively.

    Throughout the block, students will complete targeted exam practice, including structured calculations, interpretation tasks and applied analysis questions. By the end, they’ll feel more secure with the numbers, more confident in their ability to interpret financial data, and far better prepared to tackle the finance elements of both Paper 1 and Paper 2.

Business IGCSE, Law, Criminology Tutor

Hello! I’m Carla and I teach a variety of Secondary Social Science sessions in the Hub. These currently includes Business, Law and Criminology. I am a Freelance Educator who enjoys a variety of roles. My most recent role outside of the Hub has been a Deputy Headteacher which I have thoroughly enjoyed. I am also an Educational Advisor for Claire House and examiner with a leading exam board. I have almost 20 years’ teaching experience and have led the pastoral care of students for the vast majority of my career. I have vast experience of leading Alternative Provision within the secondary system and that is why I adore the Hub and our learners within it soooooo much. I am based close to my home city of Liverpool, have three children and two cats. I love music and always start my sessions with a song whilst everyone is joining. During my free time you will find me exploring the UK and France in our caravan. Hope to see you soon in one of my sessions.
