• STAND ALONE BLOCK. Description: My First Job: Earning and Employment. Did you know that you can legally work part time from the age of 13? (Even younger if in television, theatre or modelling). Are you ready to take steps towards finding your first job? Getting a taste of earning some money? Building some skills? Even starting to figure out what you want your career to look like in the future? My First Job: Earning and Employment is the block for you if you are ready to: - Create a CV that you can send to potential employers - Understand how to communicate with potential employers (so you are not intimidated or overwhelmed when it comes to exploring opportunities) - Secure your first job (or second) - whether it's part time and paid or volunteer based and building your skills - Discover jobs and sectors of interest through securing (online and in person) work experience - Feel inspired by entrepreneurship This block is led by Gina Visram, a career coach and consultant who works with students and graduates in schools, universities and independently. You're welcome to find out more via www.yourcareerandfuture.com and follow for Careers content through @yourcareerandfuture on TikTok. This is not a theoretical course. It's practical. You will be taking action every session (and with extra challenges between sessions) so that by the end of the 5-weeks, we can celebrate some real progress when it comes to securing part time jobs, work experience and volunteering opportunities - all of which will help you to get to know yourselves better and build skills that will support future applications. All participants will: - Create a CV - Understand how to communicate with potential employers (will include reference to LinkedIn as a platform but no one will be setting up a profile in this block) - Seek (and hopefully secure) work experience and volunteering opportunities.
