  • Learning Show Description

Get ready to enter the wonderful world of hamsters! 🐹

In this 5 week Learning Show, we'll discover what hamsters need to live happy, healthy lives and what it really means to be a responsible hamster owner.

From meeting different types of hamster and creating the perfect hamster home, to going on a hamster shopping challenge and becoming a hamster care detective, every episode will combine fun facts, interactive activities and creative challenges.

Learners will discover how hamsters behave, what they eat, how to keep them safe and comfortable and the things they need every day. We'll also explore real hamster products and their costs, helping learners think about what they would need to buy for their very own hamster.

Throughout the 5 weeks, learners will work towards completing the AQA Unit Award: Caring for a Hamster, building their knowledge of hamster needs, care requirements, different hamster types and hamster products.

Here's what we'll be getting up to each week:

    🐹 Week 1 - Meet the Hamster
Let's get to know these fascinating little animals! We'll discover different types of hamster, learn about their behaviours and explore the key things every hamster needs to be happy and healthy.

🏠 Week 2 - Creating the Perfect Hamster Home
What makes a great hamster home? We'll explore enclosures, bedding, hiding places, wheels, sand baths, food and water and discover why each part of a hamster's environment is important.

🛒 Week 3 - The Great Hamster Shopping Challenge
It's time to go shopping! We'll investigate different hamster products, compare their features and prices and decide which products would make sensible choices for a hamster.

🥕 Week 4 - Feeding and Caring for Your Hamster
What does a hamster eat? When should you clean their home? How should you handle them? We'll explore the everyday responsibilities of caring for a hamster and learn how to keep them safe, healthy and comfortable.

🩺 Week 5 - Hamster Detectives: Health and Happiness
Our final episode turns us into hamster detectives! We'll investigate hamster behaviours, discover what they can tell us and explore ways to keep our furry friends happy and healthy. We'll then put everything we've learned to the test with our final hamster care challenges.

I can't wait to go hamster exploring with you! 🐹💛

Hi, I’m Hannah! I’m a primary school teacher, specialising in the early years (ages 3-7).
I qualified in 2013 from Bath Spa University and have taught throughout the EYFS, KS1 and KS2 ever since, coordinating many subjects including maths, science and PE. In 2018, I completed my NASENCO award and worked as a SENCO, supporting many wonderful families, alongside teaching.
I live by the sea in Weston super Mare with my husband, toddler daughter and two cheeky pugs. Since becoming a Mummy, I have realised how quickly our children grow up so have recently started teaching part time to enjoy this precious time with my daughter.
I love sharing my passion for teaching with those of you in the Hub – it really is the highlight of my working week!
