    🎄 Christmas Around the World

Christmas is celebrated in many different ways around the world, with each country having its own special traditions, foods, decorations, music and celebrations! In this 5 week Learning Show, we'll take a festive journey around the globe to discover how different countries celebrate Christmas and what makes each tradition unique.

Together, we'll explore Christmas traditions from different countries, compare the ways people celebrate and discover how climate, culture and local customs can influence Christmas celebrations. Along the way, learners will have the opportunity to create artwork inspired by the traditions we've discovered.

Here's what we'll be getting up to each week:

🌍 WEEK 1 - Christmas Around the World
We'll begin our journey by discovering that Christmas isn't celebrated in exactly the same way everywhere. We'll explore a world map, locate different countries and discover some of the many different ways people celebrate Christmas around the world.

    🎄 WEEK 2 - Christmas in Germany 🇩🇪
This week we'll travel to Germany to discover some of the country's Christmas traditions. We'll explore Christmas markets, Advent traditions, decorations, festive food and the role of Christmas trees in German celebrations. We'll then get creative by making a piece of artwork inspired by a German Christmas tradition - a German Christmas paper star.

    ☀️ WEEK 3 - Christmas in Australia 🇦🇺
Christmas can look very different when it takes place during summer! This week we'll travel to Australia and discover how people celebrate Christmas when the weather is warm. We'll explore outdoor celebrations, Christmas decorations, festive food and some Australian Christmas traditions before creating our own artwork inspired by a summer Christmas.

    🎉 WEEK 4 - Christmas in Mexico 🇲🇽
Our journey continues to Mexico, where Christmas celebrations can be full of colour, music, family and community. We'll discover some of the traditions surrounding Christmas, including special decorations, celebrations and festive foods. We'll explore how Mexican Christmas traditions differ from those we've already discovered and create another piece of artwork inspired by a Mexican tradition.

🌎 WEEK 5 - Our Christmas Around the World
It's time to bring our journey together! We'll revisit the countries we've explored and compare the different ways Christmas is celebrated around the world. We'll discover what traditions the countries have in common, as well as what makes each celebration special.

By the end of the Learning Show, children will have discovered that there isn't just one way to celebrate Christmas. They'll have developed knowledge of Christmas traditions in different countries, experienced creating artwork inspired by those traditions and gained a greater understanding of the many different ways Christmas is celebrated around the world 🎄🌎

Hi, I’m Hannah! I’m a primary school teacher, specialising in the early years (ages 3-7).
I qualified in 2013 from Bath Spa University and have taught throughout the EYFS, KS1 and KS2 ever since, coordinating many subjects including maths, science and PE. In 2018, I completed my NASENCO award and worked as a SENCO, supporting many wonderful families, alongside teaching.
I live by the sea in Weston super Mare with my husband, toddler daughter and two cheeky pugs. Since becoming a Mummy, I have realised how quickly our children grow up so have recently started teaching part time to enjoy this precious time with my daughter.
