Content

  • Paper 1 of Pearson Edexcel IGCSE English Language Specification A

This is Block 3 - it is essential to complete Blocks 1 and 2 prior to starting this one, as they follow on from each other.

This is Block 3 of IGCSE English Language (2027 cohort) with Pearson Edexcel, Specification A.

The course will run over two years, with each block following on from the previous one, giving students who feel ready the opportunity to enter for the exam in June or November 2027.

Please note that this block will have exactly the same content as the recordings from earlier cohorts, but you will have the opportunity to participate in live lessons, rather than recordings.

Having introduced the structure of Paper 1, we are now continuing to study the ten anthology texts (a PDF of the anthology is available online and will be provided).

We will be looking at content and themes, language, structure and writers’ perspectives and contexts.

We will consider how texts can be compared and how we write about them.

Responses will be modelled and discussed during the session and tasks will be set for independent completion.

So far, we have studied “H is for Hawk”, “The Explorer’s Daughter” and begun “Chinese Cinderella”. In this block, we will complete “Chinese Cinderella”, cover “A Passage to Africa” and begin “Young and Dyslexic – You’ve Got It Going On.”

  • Course Objectives:
