Content

  • Forgery and Questioned Documents

    In this block we will learn about handwriting analysis and signature forgery.

    We will investigate key features of printed and photocopied documents, conduct ink analysis and understand about different types of paper.

    We will explore tears, holes and indentations.

    We will also learn how to spot fake money and passports.

  • Course Objectives:

    Learn how to determine if documents are real or forgeries

    Analyse handwriting

    Learn about biometric passports, driving licenses and how to determine if money is fake.

    Learn about the different forensic techniques used to analyse questioned documents

    Specialist Resources Needed:

    Examples of different types of paper, print, handwriting. It may be helpful to have examples of passport, money notes will let participants explore the concepts at home.

    Google doc session summary notes will be made available via a link on the dashboard.

Forensics Tutor

My name is Laura (Dr Randle / Mrs Watkin) and I am new tutor here in the £2 tuition hub. I am teaching the new Forensics / CSI classes at 2pm on Fridays, kicking off with an introduction to fingerprints. By day, I am an academic research scientist in Liverpool with a PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology ( drugs and poisons). I teach UG and PG students (Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, Forensic Science, Pharmacy and Pharmacology). By night, I run fun hands on science workshops for members of Girlguiding and scouting. I live in Widnes, Cheshire and I am a mum to 2 girls, Millie who is 9 3/4 and Lottie who will be 5 in September. The sessions will be a mix of taught sessions which will involve demos and also interactive join in at home experiments and quizzes.

    You will also have a reminder one hour before the start of each class.

    The live session can be accessed from the 'Join Webinar' button in these emails.
