Content

  • Actions and Feelings

Builds on the previous block which introduced some feelings and assumes some basic knowledge of French but otherwise the block stands alone.

In this exciting new block, we’ll be learning how to talk about feelings and actions in French. Children will revise some familiar expressions such as avoir faim and avoir soif, and learn new ways to describe how they feel using phrases like être fatigué and être content.

We will also learn lots of action words so that pupils can talk about what they and other people do, using verbs in the present tense. Through games and speaking activities, children will practise saying things like je mange, je joue, and il court.

Alongside this, we’ll practise numbers up to 100 (in tens) and continue building listening and speaking skills.

Lessons aim to be interactive and engaging helping children develop their French while having fun with the language.

  • Course Objectives:

By the end of this block, most pupils will be able to:

Revise and use familiar expressions with avoir to describe feelings (e.g. avoir faim, avoir soif).

Learn and use new feelings with être (e.g. être fatigué, être content, être triste).

Understand and use a range of action verbs in the present tense.

Say what they do and what others do using first and third person forms (e.g. je mange, il joue).

Recognise and use numbers up to 100 in tens (10–100).

Tutor

Angela .

KS3 French Tutor

Bonjour, I’m Angela and I will be teaching secondary French in the Hub. I’m a mum of 2 grown up children, a qualified MFL teacher and a lover of all things French. I have many years of experience in teaching French to children and adults of all ages and since 2010, I have been a private self-employed tutor primarily teaching children, most of whom are home educated. I love learning and teaching languages and am currently teaching myself Spanish. I am proud to say that I can count to 10 in 6 different languages! Along with language learning, my other passion is travelling and in fact, language learning and foreign travel complement each other wonderfully as together, they provide a richer, more informed life experience allowing for deeper cultural immersion and a better understanding of other cultures, customs and traditions. The benefits of both impact all areas of our lives - personal, academic, social and professional spheres. I try to make all my lessons fun as that is how we all learn best and so there are plenty of games and a variety of different activities. I look forward to meeting some of you soon. A bientôt!

“After a year of mostly science and art, my child has recently started Creative Writing class. From the first lesson I was blown away by the quality of the teaching, the standard of work the children were submitting and the supportive environment of the group. The tutor has a fantastic rapport with her students and it is also so nice (and great for their self-confidence) to see the students give each other great feedback and encouragement.”

Louise, parent

“I would like to say a huge Thank you for your incredible service. Such a brilliant concept and as an ex-teacher I'm very impressed with the quality of teaching, resources, well everything really! My 14year old is like a different child nowadays, wish I had deregistered him years ago in hindsight. Thank you!”

“I just wanted to say thank you so much for all you do at the Hub. It is such a Godsend for us. Our kids are enjoying their lessons, the live interaction with other kids and the lovely, lovely teachers. Where did you find such wonderful, knowledgeable but incredibly patient people?! It’s such a relief our kids can get a tailor made, good quality, British style education even as we live out this slightly crazy life here in the Mexican jungle! Thank you very much to all involved.”
