Content

  • Writing

    This block moves on to focus on the writing section of the Functional Skills Level 2 qualification. Students must complete all blocks to be ready for the exam.

    We’ll build confidence in planning, structuring and crafting ideas clearly for different purposes and audiences. Students will learn how to write both formal and informal texts, use persuasive techniques effectively and improve accuracy with spelling, punctuation and grammar.

    Learners will develop their skills step by step and finish with a timed, exam-style writing task so they feel prepared and confident for the assessment.

    Independent writing tasks will be set between sessions to reinforce learning and support steady progress.

  • Course Objectives:

    Plan, structure and organise writing clearly and logically.

    Write for different purposes (e.g. inform, persuade, describe) and audiences.

    Use paragraphs and connectives effectively to organise ideas.

    Apply accurate spelling, punctuation and grammar.

    Use tone, formality and language suitable for the task.

    Produce both formal and informal texts confidently.

Hi everyone! I’m Amy and I’ve been a private tutor since 2020. I previously worked as a teacher where I taught in almost every year you can think of! I’ve worked in mainstream, independent and special schools. I’m passionate about every child being able to access an education that is right for them and I’m excited to be a part of that! During my time as a teacher, I worked with students with very high anxiety and as a result I’m an empathetic tutor and always aim for students to feel safe and secure in my lessons first and foremost. I also like to produce fun and engaging lessons that focus on topics that students are actually interested in! I love travelling, reading and spending time at home with my baby, husband and dog! I also run my own greeting card company and have sold over 50,000 designs! I am so excited to be joining the hub and to meet you all. I am a huge advocate for home education and I love what the £2 hub stands for! I hope to see in my lessons soon!
