In this block we will discover: The geography of Antarctica; The Race to the Pole by the explorers Scott and Amundsen; Latitude and longitude on the world map (using our knowledge of these coordinates, we will then map the two expeditions on a world map together); following in the footsteps of explorers (using a map and compass). L/O: To understand the geography of the continent of Antarctica; To explore the advantages and disadvantages of both expeditions to the South Pole (1911 / 1912); To find latitude and longitude coordinates on a world map. To begin to understand and use a map and compass to reach a destination.
