  • Description: (2 hours per week for 6 weeks) AQA History GCSE. We will be learning about Germany from democracy to dictatorship. From Kaiser Wilhelm II's rule through to the fall of Nazi Germany. The focus for this course is to discover how Germany changed over time. Why was Germany such a politically changeable and unstable place? Was the rise of the Nazi party inevitable? Were individuals or other factors more important? How did Weimar Democracy make it possible for a fascist dictatorship to take hold in 1933? These are the questions we will aim to answer. Learning objectives covered: "1. To understand how the Weimar Government in Germany worked and it's strengths and weaknesses. 2. To describe the golden age period in Germany in the 1920s and how it came about. 3. To explain the impact of the Wall Street Crash and Great Depression on Germany. 4. To explain how the depression and other factors enabled the Nazi Party to gain votes and hold a majority in the Reichstag, and for Hitler to be made chancellor. 5. To analyse how Hitler turned Germany from a democracy to a dictatorship once he had been elected."
