Step back in time and discover the mysteries of prehistoric Britain! Children will journey through the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages, uncovering how early humans lived, survived and shaped the world around them. From the first hunter-gatherers of the Palaeolithic and Mesolithic periods to the metalworkers of the Bronze and Iron Ages, pupils will explore how life changed over thousands of years. Using historical sources, children will investigate key questions about the past, including how tools were made, how iron was mined, and what everyday life was like. They will also research fascinating sites such as Stonehenge, developing their enquiry skills along the way. Pupils will become curious young archaeologists, ready to uncover the secrets of the ancient past!

Learning Objectives: Working as Historians (Enquiry Skills) Children will: • Ask and answer questions about the past using a range of sources • Understand how knowledge of the past is constructed from evidence such as artefacts, pictures and sites like Stonehenge •Develop chronological understanding, including terms like Palaeolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic • Identify similarities and differences between ways of life across the three ages • Use historical vocabulary such as settlement, civilisation, agriculture and technology.
