  • Description: An Introduction to Japanese language and culture. In this block we will learn simple greetings in Japanese, about the writing systems, numbers and counting, family names etc as well as learning about life in Japan and Japanese culture. We'll do some crafts, prepare some Japanese cuisine and play popular Japanese games. Enjoy finding about about life in Japan from Hannah Y who spent 3 years living in the Japanese countryside (Nara ken) while teaching Japanese children and adults English! Suitable for upper KS2 (or children aged 8-12). Learning objectives covered: "Participants will have the opportunity to learn some beginners level Japanese as well as increase their cultural awareness of life in Japan. They will learn about cultural traditions, celebrations and stories through craft activities, Japanese cuisine and games.
