    No prior knowledge is needed for this block. It works beautifully as a stand-alone introduction to marine biology and also links well to future marine science, ecosystems, climate change and animal adaptation topics.

    In this exciting ocean-themed block, learners will discover coral reefs, sharks and rays, marine mammals, ocean geography and the impact humans are having on marine ecosystems.

    We’ll investigate fascinating adaptations, weird and wonderful sea creatures, food chains, pollution and climate change through interactive activities and practical challenges.

    Perfect for ocean-loving learners, home educating families and budding marine biologists who are curious about the underwater world.

    Expect science, storytelling, conservation and a little bit of "Carrie Ann Chaos" along the way 💥

  • Course Objectives

    Learners will:

    Explore the key geographical features of oceans and their importance

    Learn about marine mammals and their adaptations

    Describe the features and behaviours of sharks and rays

    Investigate the impacts of pollution and climate change on marine environments

    Learn about coral reefs, mangroves, seagrass ecosystems and the wildlife found there

Science Tutor

My name is Carrie Ann Booth 👩🏼‍🔬🧪💥 and I teach Primary Science, KS3 Science, IGCSE Biology, IGCSE Chemistry and IGCSE Marine Science.

I have a degree in Biochemistry with Science Communication and over 20 years of experience teaching science in schools, online, and through hands-on workshops and shows. Alongside teaching in the hub, I am also the founder of The Science Booth, where I bring science to life for thousands of children each year through explosive demos, practical investigations, and unforgettable learning experiences.

My teaching style is all about “serious science learning… but not too serious!” I believe children learn best when they are encouraged to ask questions, get messy, explore ideas, and see the real-world magic of science for themselves. My lessons are energetic, engaging, and full of curiosity, creativity, and wow moments.

Science matters because it shapes the future. Today’s curious children could become tomorrow’s:

    You will also have a reminder one hour before the start of each class.

    The live session can be accessed from the 'Join Webinar' button in these emails.

  • I've missed a session, can I have the recording?

    All recordings are uploaded within 24 hours to here - your dashboard - so you can watch whenever is convenient.
