Content

  • In the September block we will be looking at:- Exploring Emotions with Dance (part 1). Different types of dance tell different stories and express many emotions. For example contemporary dance can portray sadness, street dance could show confidence and a flamenco or tango can make us feel passion or drama. Over the course of two blocks we will be exploring how we can portray, feel and express different emotions, using different styles of dance. For the first half of the class we will learn about, and watch, a variety of dance scenes relating to our topic from films, TV, youtube or music videos. We'll discuss the historical and cultural or social impact of the style and open up a discussion amongst the group about our thoughts, feelings and feedback on the piece. We'll then run through a warm up, stretch routine and learn a selection of dance moves related to the style. Then we will have a piece of music that reflects the style we are studying, and students will create their own short piece of choreography (their own dance moves), with the opportunity to show it within the class.

  • You don't need much space, the class is designed to be delivered online and danced in a living room, kitchen room or other home space. - Rhythmic Mastery: Develop the ability to dance in sync with the rhythm of music, enhancing coordination and timing. - Choreography Proficiency: Learn and master dance moves - Dance Styles Exploration - Body Awareness: Improve body awareness, flexibility, and strength through dance movements that promote fitness and well-being. - Creative Expression: Encourage students to express their own unique style. - Character and Storytelling. - Fun and Enjoyment.

Tutor

Rosie .

Performing Arts, Dance, Yoga Tutor

Hi, I’m Rosie, the Performing Arts teacher. I’m a mum of one and I own a Theatre School here where I live in leafy Somerset. I am also a one to one singing teacher and registered to teach in preparation for Musical Theatre LAMDA examination. I spent most of my childhood singing, dancing and acting, going on to study Performing Arts at college and complete a BA Hons in Musical Theatre. After finishing my degree I signed a record contract, and briefly toured as part of a girl band, released 2 singles and performed on a West End stage (‘The Lyric Theatre’ if you are interested) Whilst I no longer perform, I get so much joy from teaching everything I’ve learnt to students in real life at our theatre school and virtually here on the hub.

“We have been taking part in the BSL lessons and the other day had great fun finger spelling while shopping. Two of my children have dyslexia with T being more severe, he hates and refuses spellings. Along comes BSL and he’s loving spellings!” ”

Holly, Parent

“Our family are full time travellers and the hub is a life line for us. The children get to see and speak to adults who show a real interest in their learning and their lives. They get to pick lessons that they are interested in and have fun learning something new. The social hub was a real life line for us too. My 3 have made friends and love getting to chat to children and adults daily too. ”

“I can’t thank you enough for starting this group Amy. You gave me back my happy (not so little anymore) boy. Thanks to this group he’s realised he’s not the stupid, naughty kid that school made him believe he was. His sister is on school holidays and he’s doing recorded lessons by choice. Xxxx ”
