  • Mystery Detectives Academy!

Step into a world of clues, codes and curious suspects as your child becomes a fully‑trained detective in this exciting 5‑week adventure.

Each week, children join the Mystery Detectives Academy to crack secret messages, solve riddles, analyse evidence and uncover the truth behind The Shadow - a mysterious figure causing chaos across the city.

This block is perfect for children who love stories, puzzles, problem‑solving and hands‑on fun. Every session blends English, maths and critical‑thinking skills in a playful, confidence‑building way. No pressure, no tests - just imagination, teamwork and the thrill of cracking the case.

Across the five weeks, detectives will:

Decode secret messages and learn real code‑breaking techniques

Create suspect profiles and use descriptive writing to analyse clues

Explore maps, coordinates and directions to track hidden locations

Solve riddles and logic puzzles to unlock new evidence

Bring all their detective skills together to solve the Grand Mystery

Children build their own Detective Case File throughout the block, collecting clues, sketches, codes and deductions - and graduate as official Academy Detectives in Week 5.

If your child loves mysteries, adventures and feeling like the hero of the story, they’ll adore this block. Every lesson is designed to be inclusive, imaginative and accessible, using simple household materials and lots of encouragement.

Join the Academy… and help crack the case before The Shadow strikes again!

Hi, I'm Kat! I'm a mum of two, living in beautiful North Devon with my family and our two cheeky cats. I love spending time outdoors — whether that’s paddle boarding, coastal walks, or growing my own vegetables in the garden. Cooking is a big passion of mine, and I enjoy bringing creativity and fun into everything I do. My favourite colour is blue, and I believe learning should be a joyful, hands-on experience where children feel inspired and confident to explore the world around them

Katharine, parent

“I would like to say a huge Thank you for your incredible service. Such a brilliant concept and as an ex-teacher I'm very impressed with the quality of teaching, resources, well everything really! My 14year old is like a different child nowadays, wish I had deregistered him years ago in hindsight. Thank you!”

Claire, parent

“I just wanted to say thank you so much for all you do at the Hub. It is such a Godsend for us. Our kids are enjoying their lessons, the live interaction with other kids and the lovely, lovely teachers. Where did you find such wonderful, knowledgeable but incredibly patient people?! It’s such a relief our kids can get a tailor made, good quality, British style education even as we live out this slightly crazy life here in the Mexican jungle! Thank you very much to all involved.”

Carolyn, parent

“Very grateful for all your hard work, and thankful for all your help during these 4 years (can't believe it's been so long) - you don't know and I can't express in words how much pressure you take of our shoulders with this amazing palette of classes that you offer.”

Cristiana, parent

“I've recommended so many people to the hub, you guys have revolutionised home ed for us. Literally. After building up our confidence with using the hub, I've actually been able to take on work based back out in the community while my daughter is at home studying. Thanks for everything you are doing! ”

Tina, parent

“A massive thankyou for all you do at the £2 hub, we have been with you from the start and seen you grow but this is the first time we have done GCSE exams with you, and with great results! Thanks ”

“After a year of mostly science and art, my child has recently started Creative Writing class. From the first lesson I was blown away by the quality of the teaching, the standard of work the children were submitting and the supportive environment of the group. The tutor has a fantastic rapport with her students and it is also so nice (and great for their self-confidence) to see the students give each other great feedback and encouragement.”
