    Step back in time with our exciting 5-part online series: Jobs Long Ago! 🕰️

    From chimney sweeps to palace messengers, children will explore the fascinating world of historic jobs through storytelling, drawing, role play, and fun activities.

    Each session brings the past to life with creative challenges and interactive games - perfect for curious minds and imaginative hearts.

    Let’s discover how people worked, dressed, and lived in days gone by!

    Lesson 1
    Outline of a child to draw and label, pencils, colouring pencils, ruler

    Lesson 2
    Some thread and a needle and a button if you have one, an item of clothing with stitching to look at, a piece of paper, pencils, colouring pencils

    Lesson 3
    Nothing needed

    Lesson 4
    Items to create your own virtual market stall - what would you sell and why? Paper / card to write signs and prices.

    Lesson 5
    A homemade crown ready to be a royal! A piece of paper, pen / pencil.

  • Course Objectives:

    Recognise and describe jobs people did in the past

    Understand how daily life and work have changed over time

    Identify differences between past and present tools, clothing, and routines

    Place jobs and lifestyles within a simple historical timeline

    Use terms like “long ago,” “Victorian,” “modern,” and “today” accurately

    Use subject-specific vocabulary (e.g. blacksmith, tailor, servant)

    Express ideas through storytelling, role play, and discussion

    Design and describe objects, outfits, and settings from the past

    Engage in imaginative tasks linked to historical roles

    Compare jobs and lifestyles from different eras

    Reflect on how and why things have changed

Hi, I'm Kat! I'm a mum of two, living in beautiful North Devon with my family and our two cheeky cats. I love spending time outdoors — whether that’s paddle boarding, coastal walks, or growing my own vegetables in the garden. Cooking is a big passion of mine, and I enjoy bringing creativity and fun into everything I do. My favourite colour is blue, and I believe learning should be a joyful, hands-on experience where children feel inspired and confident to explore the world around them
