  • Villains in Literature

    The previous block is heroes in literature so there will be a natural flow between the two, we will be building on knowledge from this block.

    What makes a great villain?

    Why do we love to hate them—or sometimes even root for them?

    This engaging block explores the most infamous villains in mythology, literature and pop culture, from Shakespeare’s master manipulators to modern antiheroes.

    Through discussions, analysis and creative activities, students will uncover what makes villains so compelling and even design their own unforgettable antagonist.

  • Course Objectives:

    Understand the origins of heroes in myths, legends and historical narratives.

    Identify and analyse the key traits of heroes in various literary genres.

    Compare fictional heroes with real-life figures to explore their cultural significance.

    Examine Shakespeare’s portrayal of heroes and how they reflect human complexity.

    Apply knowledge by creating a unique hero with relatable traits and challenges.

    Aims:

    To explore the concept of heroism and its evolution across literature and culture.

    To inspire critical thinking about the traits, roles and impact of heroes in storytelling.

    To foster creativity by encouraging students to design their own heroic characters.

Hi everyone! I’m Amy and I’ve been a private tutor since 2020. I previously worked as a teacher where I taught in almost every year you can think of! I’ve worked in mainstream, independent and special schools. I’m passionate about every child being able to access an education that is right for them and I’m excited to be a part of that! During my time as a teacher, I worked with students with very high anxiety and as a result I’m an empathetic tutor and always aim for students to feel safe and secure in my lessons first and foremost. I also like to produce fun and engaging lessons that focus on topics that students are actually interested in! I love travelling, reading and spending time at home with my baby, husband and dog! I also run my own greeting card company and have sold over 50,000 designs! I am so excited to be joining the hub and to meet you all. I am a huge advocate for home education and I love what the £2 hub stands for! I hope to see in my lessons soon!
