Content

  • Heroes in Literature

    Uncover what makes a hero truly heroic in this exciting new English block! In this block, students will explore the evolution of heroes throughout history, from ancient myths to modern stories. We'll be examining heroic traits, iconic characters and how heroes can be an inspiration to us. We will also touch upon Shakespeare's tragic heroes and craft our own memorable heroes.

    This block is perfect for fans of literature, creative storytelling and myths and legends.

  • Course Objectives:

    Understand the origins of heroes in myths, legends and historical narratives.

    Identify and analyse the key traits of heroes in various literary genres.

    Examine Shakespeare’s portrayal of heroes and how they reflect human complexity.

    Apply knowledge by creating a unique hero with relatable traits and challenges.

    Aims:

    To explore the concept of heroism and its evolution across literature and culture.

    To inspire critical thinking about the traits, roles and impact of heroes in storytelling.

    To foster creativity by encouraging students to design their own heroic characters.

Hi everyone! I’m Amy and I’ve been a private tutor since 2020. I previously worked as a teacher where I taught in almost every year you can think of! I’ve worked in mainstream, independent and special schools. I’m passionate about every child being able to access an education that is right for them and I’m excited to be a part of that! During my time as a teacher, I worked with students with very high anxiety and as a result I’m an empathetic tutor and always aim for students to feel safe and secure in my lessons first and foremost. I also like to produce fun and engaging lessons that focus on topics that students are actually interested in! I love travelling, reading and spending time at home with my baby, husband and dog! I also run my own greeting card company and have sold over 50,000 designs! I am so excited to be joining the hub and to meet you all. I am a huge advocate for home education and I love what the £2 hub stands for! I hope to see in my lessons soon!
