Content

  • Short story writing. An English class aiming to develop reading and writing skills, in a fun and creative way! We will also be covering practical grammar and punctuation that will be useful in everyday life. This class is aimed at children from 10-14 or any children who are working around that age bracket.

  • Our first English unit will focus on mystery writing. What is a mystery story? How does it build tension? How does it keep the reader hooked? We will be discussing all of these questions and more during this block. Throughout our lessons, we will be developing our knowledge of effective writing techniques and applying these to our own writing. To build confidence around writing especially for reluctant writers . To develop an understanding of writing techniques. To find the fun and enjoyment in creative writing. To write an extract for a mystery story.

Hi everyone! I’m Amy and I’ve been a private tutor since 2020. I previously worked as a teacher where I taught in almost every year you can think of! I’ve worked in mainstream, independent and special schools. I’m passionate about every child being able to access an education that is right for them and I’m excited to be a part of that! During my time as a teacher, I worked with students with very high anxiety and as a result I’m an empathetic tutor and always aim for students to feel safe and secure in my lessons first and foremost. I also like to produce fun and engaging lessons that focus on topics that students are actually interested in! I love travelling, reading and spending time at home with my baby, husband and dog! I also run my own greeting card company and have sold over 50,000 designs! I am so excited to be joining the hub and to meet you all. I am a huge advocate for home education and I love what the £2 hub stands for! I hope to see in my lessons soon!
