Content

  • Mission to Mars

Get ready for an incredible adventure!

Over five weeks, your child will become a space explorer as we journey together to Planet Mars.

We’ll learn what Mars is really like - its dusty red landscape, freezing temperatures, and powerful dust storms - and compare it with life here on Earth. Children will discover what humans need to survive in space, how astronauts live and work, and why we send robots like NASA’s rovers to explore the planet before people arrive.

Through hands-on experiments, STEM building challenges, and creative tasks, your child will design rockets, build mini Mars habitats, test their own “rover”, and design their very own Martian settlement.

This topic is perfect for children who love space, science, building, inventing, and imagining what the future might look like. It’s a chance to think big, problem-solve, and explore a world far beyond our own.

  • Course Objectives:

Compare Mars and Earth using key scientific vocabulary.

Describe what humans need to survive and explain why special equipment is needed on Mars.

Explain how rovers help scientists explore planets and understand simple programming instructions.

Understand how rockets work using basic ideas about forces and motion.

Design and model a Mars habitat using simple materials and evaluate its effectiveness.

    Resources Needed:

I’m an KS1 and KS2 specialist teacher, teaching in the classroom for 14 years before tutoring and my favourite subjects (to teach and to learn!) are history, geography, art and science.
