Content

  • Self, Family and Friends

    This block builds on prior KS3 knowledge of French. It is essential that students have covered 2 years or more at KS3 and have a good understanding of the work to date.

    This exciting course is designed for students who have already completed at least two years of KS3 French and feel ready to begin working towards GCSE/IGCSE-level content.

    Lessons are interactive, engaging and enjoyable, with plenty of games and speaking activities. However, there is also a greater focus on the language skills and grammatical accuracy required at GCSE level. Students will be encouraged to use a wider range of vocabulary, write in greater detail and understand how French grammar works.

    Our first topic, Family and Friends (La famille et les amis), explores how to describe family members and friends and discuss the qualities of a good friend. Alongside this, students will revise key grammar, including the present tense of regular and irregular verbs, and strengthen their knowledge of numbers and dates.

  • Course Objectives:

    By the end of the block, most students will be able to:

    Describe family members and friends in detail

    Use a large range of adjectives to describe appearance and personality

    Discuss the qualities of a good friend and express opinions

    Revise and apply the present tense of the irregular verbs être and avoir

    Revise and use regular -ER, -IR and -RE verbs in the present tense

    Revise and practise numbers, including higher numbers

    Understand and use dates accurately

    Specialist Resources Needed:

    Pen, notebook, folder for French work, 6 number dice and worksheets will be uploaded weekly to the dashboard.

Bonjour, I’m Angela, the French teacher in the Hub.
I’m a mum of 2 grown up children and a qualified MFL teacher with many years’ experience.
I have been teaching secondary French in the Hub for 3 years and started the primary French lessons last year. I have also done a couple of blocks of Beginners German pre-recorded lessons. I am a full-time self-employed tutor of French and the majority of my students are home educated.
I love languages and am currently teaching myself Spanish. Along with language learning, my other passion is travelling and in fact, language learning and foreign travel complement each other wonderfully as together, they provide a richer, more informed life experience allowing for deeper cultural immersion and a better understanding of other cultures, customs and traditions.
I have loved meeting some of your lovely children and hope to continue working with them and meeting new ones. I try to make all my lessons fun as that is how we all learn best and so there are plenty of interactive games and a variety of different activities and also songs for the younger students.
