  • Description: Consumer Law. During this block we will explore what protection consumers have when entering into contracts with businesses or purchasing products. We will examine various pieces of legislation such as the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, the Consumer Protection (Amendment) Regulations 2014, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. We will explore distance selling, aggressive selling and the organisations that can be accessed for support if ever in dispute with a business such as trading standards, Which?, the media, Citizens Advice, ombudsmen, trading associations and arbitrators. We will also look at clauses within contracts. L/O: 1. Examine the current law on the sale of goods and the availability of related advice and assistance for consumers. 2. Explore and apply the law on the supply of goods and services and other areas of consumer protection law. 3. Investigate the law on exclusion clauses.
