Content

  • M3: Marine Organisms

    This block is part of the CIE IGCSE Marine Science course and introduces the classification and biology of marine organisms.

    It is recommended that learners have completed Blocks 1–3 before starting this block, as it builds on understanding of ocean structure and seawater properties.

    However, it may be taken as a stand-alone unit by those with a keen interest in marine life and a solid foundation in KS3 science, particularly life processes and classification.

    Dive into the weird and wonderful world of marine life!

    From microscopic plankton to enormous whales, this block explores how ocean organisms survive and thrive.

    Learners will discover the diversity of life in the sea, learn to classify marine species, and investigate how animals are adapted to feed, move, and reproduce in their watery world.

    With creative activities, interactive quizzes, and real-life case studies, students will gain a deep appreciation of ocean biodiversity and leave seeing sea creatures in a whole new light.

    Identify and name examples from key marine phyla

    Describe adaptations of marine organisms to their environment

Science Tutor

My name is Carrie Ann Booth 👩🏼‍🔬🧪💥 and I teach Primary Science, KS3 Science, IGCSE Biology, IGCSE Chemistry and IGCSE Marine Science.

I have a degree in Biochemistry with Science Communication and over 20 years of experience teaching science in schools, online, and through hands-on workshops and shows. Alongside teaching in the hub, I am also the founder of The Science Booth, where I bring science to life for thousands of children each year through explosive demos, practical investigations, and unforgettable learning experiences.

My teaching style is all about “serious science learning… but not too serious!” I believe children learn best when they are encouraged to ask questions, get messy, explore ideas, and see the real-world magic of science for themselves. My lessons are energetic, engaging, and full of curiosity, creativity, and wow moments.

Science matters because it shapes the future. Today’s curious children could become tomorrow’s:
