  • Master Builders

    Grab your blueprint and prepare to build! In Master Builders, children become architects, engineers and town planners as they explore famous structures, investigate what makes buildings strong, experiment with measurement and scale, and consider how materials are chosen for different purposes.

    Across five creative missions, children will blend Maths, Science, Geography, History, Design and Technology and Art as they plan, problem-solve and ultimately design their own Minecraft-inspired settlement. No Minecraft experience is required, with optional in-game challenges available for keen miners.

  • Course Objectives:

    🏛️ Explore and compare significant buildings and structures from different places and periods.
    📐 Apply mathematical skills including measurement, shape, perimeter, area and simple scale to design problems.
    🧱 Investigate materials and structural strength, considering why particular materials and shapes are suitable for different purposes.
    🗺️ Use geographical and planning skills to consider where and how settlements should be built.
    ✏️ Develop designs through sketches, plans and simple blueprints, adapting ideas in response to constraints.
    💡 Solve practical design problems by considering purpose, resources and the needs of users.
    🗣️ Explain and justify design decisions using appropriate vocabulary.
    🎨 Combine creativity with practical thinking to design an original Minecraft-inspired settlement.

Minecraft Explorers Academy and Creative and Reluctant Writers Tutor

Hi, I’m Laura and I teach English-based (Creative Writing and Reluctant Writers) and cross-curricula sessions (Book Club 5-7 and Harry Potter Fan Club) mostly aimed at primary learners on the Hub.
I’m a qualified Primary teacher, specialising in English, but have been private tutoring in English and Maths for over 9 years with a range of students from 5-16 years old. I absolutely adore tutoring – it is everything I love about teaching without the pressure and unrealistic expectations on pace and paperwork that tries to squash children into a mould which can be so damaging to their confidence.
I’m delighted to have found the Hub to be able to reach out to home educators and offer a creative and confidence-boosting curriculum that brings the fun back into learning and celebrates all the little achievements along the way!

    You will receive a confirmation email from Zoom, containing details of your live registration.

    You will also have a reminder one hour before the start of each class.

    The live session can be accessed from the 'Join Webinar' button in these emails.

  • I've missed a session, can I have the recording?

    All recordings are uploaded within 24 hours to here - your dashboard - so you can watch whenever is convenient.
