  • Description: Blood Brothers - a play by Willy Russell. For our new Modern text, we are heading to 1950s Liverpool to meet Mrs Johnstone, mother of seven children with another on the way. Her husband has deserted her and when she finds out that the baby is in fact twins, she has no idea how she is going to cope. Willy Russell’s “Blood Brothers” tells us how Mrs Johnstone’s decision had an impact on not one but two mothers. This is a musical and some of the script is song lyrics – we will be listening to the songs and even singing them, if you’d like to! We will find out about the background against which the play was set, the characters and the language and structure of the script. This is a GCSE text for AQA and this will be referenced during our studies. All resources will be provided. NOTE: This is Block 1 of 2. L/O: To understand the background against which the play was set, the characters and the language and structure of the script.
