  • Pitch, Keys and Scales,
    Oh my!

    If you are unsure whether or not you are ready for Grade 3, you can complete this online Grade 2 test: https://www.abrsm.org/en-gb/music-theory/practice-resources which will enable you to assess your knowledge and help you to decide. If you feel that you are ready and would like to join us live in January, you can join in live with this block and catch up on the recordings of Grade 3 Rhythm 1 and Rhythm 2 in your own time. If you would like to follow recordings, please start with Grade 3 Rhythm 1.

    In this block, we’re taking our note reading to the next level as we learn to read notes that climb all the way up (and down!) to three ledger lines.

    We’ll also discover how to transpose notes up and down an entire octave - like magic!

    Once we’re confident note readers, we’ll dive into our Keys and Scales chapter to explore two new keys: E major and Ab major.

  • Course Objectives:

    To be able to recognise the keys and scales of Ab major

    Resources Needed:

    To aid us with our learning, we will be using ‘Discovering Music Theory The ABRSM Grade 3 Workbook’ which will need to be purchased. This book can retail from £8.50 to £10.50 (please shop around) and will also be used within all of the following blocks. The ABRSM workbook will be accompanied by activities and quizzes to ensure that our lessons are engaging and fun!

Piano Tutor

Hi, I’m Natalie and I am the piano/keyboard teacher for the hub. I am a mum of two and a qualified primary school teacher. I have been playing the piano since I was 6 years old and have been teaching piano for around 24 years- both online and in person. I am also a classically trained singer and was a member of the Cantamus Girls’ Choir for ten years. Pre-Covid, I enjoyed singing to residents in care homes and running my own dementia choir. Music is such a huge part of my life and I am thoroughly enjoying teaching in the hub, where I can share my love of music and enjoy watching children flourish.

  • How do I access the live sessions?

    You will receive a confirmation email from Zoom, containing details of your live registration.

    You will also have a reminder one hour before the start of each class.

    The live session can be accessed from the 'Join Webinar' button in these emails.

  • I've missed a session, can I have the recording?

    All recordings are uploaded within 24 hours to here - your dashboard - so you can watch whenever is convenient.
