  • Wild explorers - Investigating Nature through Science

    Grab your explorer hat - we’re heading outdoors (and sometimes underground!) to uncover the science hiding in the natural world around us. In this hands-on adventure, children become real field scientists as they observe closely, ask great questions, record discoveries, and investigate living things in their own local environments.

    We’ll sketch, note, and wonder like true naturalists in Nature Notebooks, dig deep into soil science with Worm Charming, and become Eco Detectives as we explore habitats and sustainability. We’ll share our discoveries in The Great Nature Share, building confidence as young scientists, and finish with a closer look at pollinators in Buzz About Bees, uncovering why these tiny creatures matter so much.

    From careful observation to real-world investigations, this class nurtures curiosity, confidence, and a deep connection to the living world - turning everyday nature into extraordinary science! 🌿🔎🐛🐝

Hi, I’m Dr Jo – scientist and educator. I teach Nature Quest and STEAM Explorers in the Hub, where we dive into the wonders of science, nature, and creative problem-solving — all through hands-on, creative, curious learning. With a background in science and years of experience in education, I’m passionate about sparking that “wow!” moment in children — whether we’re mixing potions from plants, exploring the changing Earth, or inventing with STEAM. I love helping young learners connect ideas, ask big questions, and explore the world through fun, engaging, and meaningful experiences. When I’m not teaching in the Hub, you might find me delivering workshops, running STEM clubs, developing learning resources, supporting teachers, and training scientists! I can’t wait to welcome you to the adventure — let’s explore, experiment and get inspired by the amazing world around us!

    You will also have a reminder one hour before the start of each class.

    The live session can be accessed from the 'Join Webinar' button in these emails.

  • I've missed a session, can I have the recording?

    All recordings are uploaded within 24 hours to here - your dashboard - so you can watch whenever is convenient.
