☀️Sky watchers: Seasons, Weather and the
Changing Earth
Look up, feel the breeze, and explore the wonders of our ever-changing sky.
In this immersive nature Quest block, we will become sky detectives, discovering how weather, seasons, and Earth’s movements shape the world around us.
Through hands-on activities, we will identify cloud types, trace the journey of a raindrop through the water cycle, and investigate how shadows reveal the Earth’s daily rhythm.
We’ll measure the power and direction of the wind, and use nature’s own signs – from falling leaves to migrating birds – as clues to seasonal change.
Blending science with outdoor discovery, Sky Watchers invites learners to connect with the natural world, sharpen their observation skills, and deepen their understanding of the Earth as a dynamic, living system.
Perfect for curious explorers and budding environmental scientists, this module brings the sky down to earth in ways that inspire wonder and spark lifelong curiosity.

Course Objectives:
The sky is always changing! By watching clouds, rain, shadows, wind, and the seasons, we can discover how the Earth, Sun, and weather work together to shape our world.
*Observe and interpret the sky
Recognise and describe different cloud types, weather patterns, and seasonal changes.
Create and use simple tools and direct observation to record features of the atmosphere and environment.
*Understand Earth’s natural cycles
Explain the water cycle through the journey of a raindrop.
Describe how the Earth’s rotation and orbit affect shadows, day length, and the changing seasons.
*Investigate weather phenomena
Measure wind strength and direction using basic instruments.
Explore how weather impacts people, animals, and the environment.
*Develop scientific inquiry and outdoor learning skills
Plan and carry out simple investigations in nature, making predictions and recording results.
*Connect with nature through seasonal awareness
Identify seasonal signs in plants and animals, building an understanding of natural rhythms.
Reflect on how humans, wildlife, and ecosystems adapt to changes in weather and season.
