  • Hedgehogs

    Are you ready for some happy hedgehog happenings with Hannah in Block 4?

    I'm back from maternity leave and so excited to discover the fascinating world of these spiky creatures with you in our 'Hedgehog Challenge'.

    I'm 'hedge-ing' my bets that you're going to love it!

    Pawprint badges are super fun and provide your children with an opportunity to work towards an end goal. They are a lovely creative set of cross curricular lessons based around a theme. Your child will work through the challenges and earn the badge virtually.

    A badge can also be purchased on the Pawprint website if your child wants to collect them but this is not a requirement.

  • Each week, we will complete a different activity together. The activities will be as follows:

    Week 1 - Intro - In this session, we will be exploring the habitat, diet and behaviours of hedgehogs. We will have a go at making our own hedgehog feeding station at the end.

    Week 2 - Craft - We will be making a cute, fluffy, pom-pom hedgehog.

    Week 3 - Food - This week, we will be making hedgehog bread - yum!

    Week 4 - Games - We will be playing hedgehog related games, e.g. spot the difference, sound guessing game, marshmallow pick up and we will be getting physical by moving our bodies like a hedgehog in this session too.

    Week 5 - Other - Finally, we will be learning more about hibernation, what it is and why hedgehogs do it. We will make a clay hedgehog and a leaf shelter to show off our understanding of this fascinating concept.

Hi, I’m Hannah! I’m a primary school teacher, specialising in the early years (ages 3-7). I qualified in 2013 from Bath Spa University and have taught throughout the EYFS, KS1 and KS2 ever since, coordinating many subjects including maths, science and PE. In 2018, I completed my NASENCO award and worked as a SENCO, supporting many wonderful families, alongside teaching. I live by the sea in Weston super Mare with my husband, toddler daughter and two cheeky pugs. Since becoming a Mummy, I have realised how quickly our children grow up so have recently started teaching part time to enjoy this precious time with my daughter. I love sharing my passion for teaching with those of you in the Hub – it really is the highlight of my working week!
