• Description: This is part one of our exciting new performing arts theme - Dreaming in Colour. We will be exploring a range of musicals and themes, taking inspiration from colours of the rainbow, understanding how colours are used to convey emotion, tell stories and represent themes. This is part one of a two part block. We'll be exploring musicals such as Wicked (Green) Spongebob Squarepants (Yellow) and Anything Goes (Blue) as well as others, culminating in our final musical journey 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow'. Think of these classes like an online Theatre school class. We sing, we dance, we act. We play, we use our imagination, we're creative. We learn new skills in confidence, communication, reading, listening and learning. In acting, we play games, we read scripts and we learn about basic drama devices like improvisation, mime and physical theatre. In dance, we warm up, we stretch, we learn a basic piece of dance technique (such as a kick or a simple turn) and each week we build on learning a dance routine. In singing, we warm up our voices, running through a series of warm up and technique activities, and each week we build on learning a song, through learning words, rhythm and melody.
