  • Hamilton

    Block 2 of 2

Part two of a two part block, but new students are welcome to join.

Do not 'throw away your shot' to be in 'the room where it happened', because over the course of two blocks we will be studying the musical that changed modern musicals - Hamilton!

Think of these classes like an online Theatre school class. We sing, we dance, we act. We play, we use our imagination, we're creative. We learn new skills in confidence, communication, reading, listening and learning.

In acting, we play games, we read scripts and we learn about basic drama devices like improvisation, mime and physical theatre in an age appropriate, fun and game based learning way.

In dance, we warm up, we stretch, we learn a basic piece of dance technique (such as a kick or a simple turn) and each week we build on learning a dance routine.

In singing, we warm up our voices, running through a series of warm up and technique activities, and each week we build on learning a song, through learning words, rhythm and melody.

  • As well as performance and practical activities, we'll also be looking at the backstage and behind the scenes elements of theatre - think costume, set design, make up and more!

The guide age for the class is 8+, but we have students of all ages attending the class.

Please do bear in mind that Hamilton has adult themes, including adultery, adult relationships and violence - so please do explore these before deciding whether our class is right for your student.

    Course Objectives:

To understand how storytelling and characters can influence and develop a story line.

To build on our skills in all areas of performing arts through singing, dancing and drama.

To improve our physical fitness and mental well-being.

To build on our confidence skills.

Tutor

Rosie .

Performing Arts, Dance, Yoga Tutor

Hi, I’m Rosie, the Performing Arts teacher. I’m a mum of one and I own a Theatre School here where I live in leafy Somerset. I am also a one to one singing teacher and registered to teach in preparation for Musical Theatre LAMDA examination. I spent most of my childhood singing, dancing and acting, going on to study Performing Arts at college and complete a BA Hons in Musical Theatre. After finishing my degree I signed a record contract, and briefly toured as part of a girl band, released 2 singles and performed on a West End stage (‘The Lyric Theatre’ if you are interested) Whilst I no longer perform, I get so much joy from teaching everything I’ve learnt to students in real life at our theatre school and virtually here on the hub.
