Content

  • Learning consonant blends, polysyllabic words and high frequency words

    Join us for an exciting Phase 4 Phonics adventure as we dive into the fun-filled story Shark in the Park, and engage with interactive games and activities!

    Children will continue to develop their phonics skills by learning to blend sounds to read, and segment sounds to spell words containing consonant blends, digraphs, and trigraphs. We will also explore new high-frequency words and multisyllabic words, helping children become more confident and independent readers and writers.

    Through exciting activities such as consonant blend hunts, word sorting games and caption creation, children will have opportunities to apply their phonics knowledge. They will be encouraged to ‘have a go’ with their writing while developing their confidence with spelling and sentence formation.

    We love learning through play, so expect plenty of fun games, including phonics bingo and Kahoot quizzes, to help consolidate learning!

    Perfect for young learners who are ready to strengthen their phonics knowledge, tackle trickier words, and take the next exciting step in their reading and writing journey.

  • Course Objectives:

    To apply consonant blends, digraphs and trigraphs when blending to read words, and when segmenting to spell words.

    To learn to read and spell further high frequency words.

    Specialist Resources Needed:

    Pen and paper or a whiteboard and pen. Children may like to use magnetic letters, or alternatively have the individual letters written out on pieces of paper.

    You may like to bring along a copy of Shark in the Park if you have it, but it is not essential.

Phonics Tutor

Hi Everyone! I’m Lisa. I am a qualified primary teacher and have been teaching since 2009, predominately in EYFS, and some in Year 1, 2, 3 and 4.
I have two children of my own who are 6 and 3, and I’m based in Gloucestershire. I love teaching phonics and even more so, love to see the sense of achievement from children who are learning to read! It is a pleasure to run the phonics sessions in the hub, and aim to make the sessions interactive, fun and enjoyable!

  • How do I access the live sessions?

    You will receive a confirmation email from Zoom, containing details of your live registration.

    You will also have a reminder one hour before the start of each class.

    The live session can be accessed from the 'Join Webinar' button in these emails.

  • I've missed a session, can I have the recording?

    All recordings are uploaded within 24 hours to here - your dashboard - so you can watch whenever is convenient.
