    Phase 5 alternative pronunciations to known graphemes and spelling choices for known phonemes.

    Builds on Phase 5 Phonics (All blocks) and Phase 5 Alternative Pronunciations and Graphemes (All blocks)

    Develop your phonics knowledge to become a fluent reader and an accurate speller, through interactive activities and games!

    We will be learning alternative pronunciations for reading for the known graphemes /ou/ (e.g. you, could, mould) and /c/ (e.g. cell), alongside learning the alternative spellings for the phonemes /air/ (e.g. bear, there, care, their), /ear/ (e.g. cheer, severe, pier) and short /oo/ (e.g. would).

    We will use our knowledge of these pronunciations and spellings for reading and writing sentences.

    We use online games and games such as bingo to consolidate our knowledge!

    Pen and paper or a whiteboard and pen.

    Course Objectives:

    To learn and recognise alternative pronunciations to known graphemes for reading.

    To apply knowledge of alternative spellings for known phonemes when segmenting to spell words.

Phonics Tutor

Hi Everyone! I’m Lisa. I am a qualified primary teacher and have been teaching since 2009, predominately in EYFS, and some in Year 1, 2, 3 and 4. I have two children of my own who are 6 and 3, and I’m based in Gloucestershire. I love teaching phonics and even more so, love to see the sense of achievement from children who are learning to read! It is a pleasure to run the phonics sessions in the hub, and aim to make the sessions interactive, fun and enjoyable!

    You will receive a confirmation email from Zoom, containing details of your live registration.

    You will also have a reminder one hour before the start of each class.

    The live session can be accessed from the 'Join Webinar' button in these emails.

  • I've missed a session, can I have the recording?

    All recordings are uploaded within 24 hours to here - your dashboard - so you can watch whenever is convenient.
