  • Phase 5 alternative pronunciations to known graphemes and spelling choices for known phonemes

    Block 6

    Builds on Phase 5 Phonics (All blocks) and Phase 5 Alternative Pronunciations and Graphemes (All blocks)

    Continue to develop your phonics knowledge to become a fluent reader and an accurate speller, through interactive activities and games!

    We will be learning alternative pronunciations for reading for the known graphemes /g/ (e.g. gym) and /ey/ (e.g. money, grey), alongside learning alternative spellings for the phoneme /sh/ (e.g. special, station, sugar, chef), and the new phoneme /zh/ (with ending examples: treasure, television, visual).

    We will also be learning to write the days of the week and numbers. All of this new knowledge we can then use to practice our reading and have a go at writing sentences.

    Online games, quizzes and games such as bingo help to consolidate our knowledge!

  • Course Objectives:

    To learn and recognise alternative pronunciations to known graphemes for reading.

    To apply knowledge of alternative spellings for known phonemes when segmenting to spell words.

Phonics Tutor

Hi Everyone! I’m Lisa. I am a qualified primary teacher and have been teaching since 2009, predominately in EYFS, and some in Year 1, 2, 3 and 4. I have two children of my own who are 6 and 3, and I’m based in Gloucestershire. I love teaching phonics and even more so, love to see the sense of achievement from children who are learning to read! It is a pleasure to run the phonics sessions in the hub, and aim to make the sessions interactive, fun and enjoyable!

    You will also have a reminder one hour before the start of each class.

    The live session can be accessed from the 'Join Webinar' button in these emails.

    All recordings are uploaded within 24 hours to here - your dashboard - so you can watch whenever is convenient.
