  • BLOCK 2 OF 3. Description: Phase 3 digraphs and trigraphs and common exception words. In Phase 3, we will continue to revisit individual letter sounds learnt so far in Phase 2 and Phase 3, along with common exception (tricky) words learnt so far. We will introduce the digraphs and trigraphs th, ng, ai, igh, ee, or, oa, oo, ar and the common exception words 'my, 'you' and 'they'. We will use our knowledge of the sounds learnt to read and spell words, alongside reading and writing short sentences using words containing our focus sounds, and our focus common exception words. L/O: To learn to recognise digraphs and trigraphs introduced so far for reading and recall for spelling. To apply digraphs and trigraphs when blending to read words, and when segmenting to spell words. To learn to read and spell common exception words.
