Phase 4 consonant blends, polysyllabic words and common exception words.
In Phase 4, we will be revisiting all sounds learnt so far, along with common exception (tricky) words learnt so far. We will focus on learning to blend to read and segment to spell CCVCC and CCVCC words containing phase 3 digraphs and trigraphs and the consonant blends sw, sc, sk, sm, sn, sp, st, bl, br, cl, cr, fl, fr, gl, gr, pl, pr, tr, tw, alongside introducing the common exception words some, come, were, there, little.
We will also be learning to add the suffix 'ing' to verbs. We will use our knowledge of these blends and words to practise reading and writing sentences.
To apply consonant blends when blending to read words, and when segmenting to spell words. To learn to read and spell common exception words.
