About this course

  • £10.00
  • Tutor: Natalie, 5 sessions
  • Age: 10+
  • Description: PLEASE NOTE: There will be 4 live sessions and 1 pre-recorded session due to the extra bank holidays. Block 7 (Maple Leaf Rag and Star Wars). Block 7 is a continuation from the previous blocks. If you are a newcomer and would like to join us, you will need to purchase the Condensed Catch-Up Block and also Blocks 5 and 6. However if you have previous experience of playing the piano/keyboard you can join in with this current block without buying previous blocks. In block 7, we will be: - Warming up with scales and arpeggios - Continuing to develop our sight reading skills - Learning how to play Maple Leaf Rag by Scott Joplin - Learning how to play Star Wars: A New Hope by John Williams - Shown how to play a keyboard and how it differs from playing the piano PLEASE NOTE: If you would like to learn the Star Wars main theme, this will need to be purchased for £2.99 from the music website Tomplay. Maple Leaf Rag will be provided by me and attached on the dashboard. The link from Tomplay will be available on your dashboard after you have purchased the block. You may choose to learn both of our selected pieces or just one (maybe saving one for later). We will be spending 10-15 minutes on each piece during each session. If you choose just one piece to learn, you can use the other 10-15 minutes to practice the piece that you are learning or there will be some sight reading for you to be practicing. During the last 5-10 minutes of each lesson, we will be looking at how to play a keyboard (using the beats to play different chords etc). Even if you don’t own a keyboard, this will be useful to watch for if you ever get the opportunity to play one.
