  • Lead Sheets - Turkish March (Mozart) & Rush E (Wrangell)

    Please note that these lessons are for students who have experience of playing the piano/keyboard. Depending on how much experience you have with playing chords etc, you may want to purchase our September block https://courses.the2poundtuitionhub.com/courses/piano-10-sept-2024-chords-inversions-8561 which focussed on playing chords and will be helpful in preparation for this block.

    In this block, I will show you how to learn a piece of music using a lead sheet. Lead sheets present us with the ‘bare bones’ in a piece of music. These bare bones allow the musician musical freedom whilst playing. We will mainly be focussing on playing a melody with our right hand whilst playing accompanying chords in the left hand. I will show you just how simple this can be and also how you can challenge yourself further to play like a true professional.

    To help us with our understanding of lead sheets, we will be learning the classical piece ‘Turkish March’ (Rondo Alla Turca) by Mozart and/or ‘Rush E’ by Andrew Wrangell which has recently gone viral on YouTube. You can choose to learn either one of these pieces, or if you're really up for the challenge- both. Not only will you be able to play these pieces by the end of this block, but the lessons will also give you the tools that you need to be able to choose other lead sheets to play independently.

    To be able to play a chord in the left hand whilst playing a melody in the right hand

Hi, I’m Natalie and I am the piano/keyboard teacher for the hub. I am a mum of two and a qualified primary school teacher. I have been playing the piano since I was 6 years old and have been teaching piano for around 24 years- both online and in person. I am also a classically trained singer and was a member of the Cantamus Girls’ Choir for ten years. Pre-Covid, I enjoyed singing to residents in care homes and running my own dementia choir. Music is such a huge part of my life and I am thoroughly enjoying teaching in the hub, where I can share my love of music and enjoy watching children flourish.

  • How do I access the Live sessions?

    You will receive a confirmation email from Zoom, containing details of your live registration. You will also have a reminder one hour before the start of each class. The live session can be accessed from the 'Join Webinar' button in these emails.

  • I've missed a session, can I have the recording?

    All recordings are uploaded within 24hours to here - your dashboard - so you can watch whenever is convenient
