  • Steve's Lava Chicken
    & Ode to Joy

If you are new to the piano/keyboard and like using recordings, you will need to start from Block 1 Sept 2024. If you haven't joined us before and can play a simple tune (preferably with hands together) and can play a few chords, then this would be a great block to join as a one-off.

Please note: This course is a repeat from 2023-2024. However, the music and teaching objectives have altered slightly within the blocks so it is fully recommended to follow the blocks in order from either Sept 2022-June 2023 or Sept 2023-June 2024. It is not recommended to mix and match the blocks.

In our final block, we will continue learning how to play with our hands together at the same time. To help us accomplish this, we will be learning ‘Steve’s Lava Chicken’ from A Minecraft Movie and ‘Ode to Joy’ by Beethoven. We will also continue learning how to read music for independence by sight-reading ‘In the Hall Of the Mountain King’ by Grieg. As always, each lesson will begin with a fun warm up and then finish with some time at the end for students to play for everyone if they wish. This is a continuation from block 1-5, however, if you would like to join us for the first time and have a little experience already then this will be a great block to join.

Tutor

Natalie .

Piano Tutor

Hi, I’m Natalie and I am the piano/keyboard teacher for the hub. I am a mum of two and a qualified primary school teacher. I have been playing the piano since I was 6 years old and have been teaching piano for around 24 years- both online and in person. I am also a classically trained singer and was a member of the Cantamus Girls’ Choir for ten years. Pre-Covid, I enjoyed singing to residents in care homes and running my own dementia choir. Music is such a huge part of my life and I am thoroughly enjoying teaching in the hub, where I can share my love of music and enjoy watching children flourish.

“Just wanted to say thank you so much for this amazing hub. The passion shines through in the lessons - the tutors enjoy what they are doing which makes such a huge difference. My daughter is using the recordings currently, which is such a brilliant resource, being able to pause and go back over at any point to something she needs to refresh on. I wish I had access to something like this when I studied but also for my older girls who are in their last year in high school! I will be recommending the hub to everyone!!”
