Content

  • Belonging is one of Pearson Edexcel’s poetry anthologies, introduced in 2019 as their fourth collection.

We have studied some of these poems in previous sessions but will be looking at some new ones in this block.

The theme explores our relationship with places and ideas about home, heritage, belonging and connection.

There will be a range of contemporary, romantic and literary heritage poetry.

  • There is no need to have completed previous poetry blocks – each block stands alone (unless this is being studied for the Pearson GCSE English Literature exam - see note below).

We will be using the SMILE structure to analyse poetic techniques – structure, mood and meaning, imagery, language and effect on the reader.

We will also learn about the poet and the context in which they wrote their poetry.

  • NOTE: For students who wish to take Pearson Edexcel GCSE English Literature, the poems in this collection will support your study for the anthology poetry section of the exam (the Belonging cluster).

This is the third block of poems – five poems were studied in Block 1 and five in Block 2 – this third recorded block completes the anthology.

To understand structure, mood and meaning, imagery, language and the effect on the reader of contemporary and literary heritage poetry.

“I can’t thank you enough for starting this group Amy. You gave me back my happy (not so little anymore) boy. Thanks to this group he’s realised he’s not the stupid, naughty kid that school made him believe he was. His sister is on school holidays and he’s doing recorded lessons by choice. Xxxx ”

“this group is without doubt an absolute blessing. Fantastic classes with amazing teachers at an extremely reasonable price. I for one am so thankful to you and your team for everything you all do. We appreciate the hub so much and are very grateful xx ”

Claire, Parent

“Our family are full time travellers and the hub is a life line for us. The children get to see and speak to adults who show a real interest in their learning and their lives. They get to pick lessons that they are interested in and have fun learning something new. The social hub was a real life line for us too. My 3 have made friends and love getting to chat to children and adults daily too. ”

Donna, Parent

“£2 tuition hub was the best resource I found my entire time home educating. I’m still currently using the £2 Hub 3 years later”

Maxine, Parent

“Fantastic group has helped us through 3+ years of home ed, wish we knew of you before that when we first started ”

“We have been taking part in the BSL lessons and the other day had great fun finger spelling while shopping. Two of my children have dyslexia with T being more severe, he hates and refuses spellings. Along comes BSL and he’s loving spellings!” ”
