Content

  • Block 18

    This fun and interactive class is perfect for Pokemon fans from 7-13!

    The class will be cross-curricular and each block we will study lots of different curriculum areas through the theme of Pokemon, including Science, Geography, English, Art, and History.

    This block we'll also have a bake and online quizzes.

  • Course Objectives:

    In Geography, we'll be learning about Namazu, the mythical giant catfish in Japanese folklore responsible for causing earthquakes, and linking him to the Pokemon, Whiscash!

    In Science we will be looking at Mew Two and studying DNA, including making a candy DNA model.

    In Art and Maths we will be creating Omanyte-inspired art using the Fibonacci sequence.

    We will be creating our own 3D Pokemon battleboard and learning how to build our own game deck.

    Finally, there will be a Pokemon recipe for you to try out- we will be baking a Swiss roll inspired by Poliwag!

    Specialist Resources Needed:

    For the DNA model: soft, small sweets that come in four different colours (like Midget Gems), Twizzlers x 2 (or similar rope/long twisted sweets), tooth picks. Ingredients for Swiss-roll: caster sugar, eggs, self-raising flour, blue food colouring, double cream (optional blackcurrant jam). A compass to draw your own Fibonacci spiral art work. Coloured card to make your own Pokemon battleboard game!

Primary History Tutor

Hi! I’m Sarah and I teach Primary History on The Hub and am currently working on a new exciting recording ready for after Christmas. I’m a mum of two young boys and have been a primary teacher for 15 years (how time flies!) After spending the last 10 years teaching Year 6 in a junior school I now work mainly with young people and adults with a variety of different educational needs, either 1-to-1 or delivering group workshops. I’m loving this new challenge in addition to my work at The Hub! Above all, my aim is to work creatively to make lessons fun and engaging- I think we all learn more that way!
