Content

  • Ancient Maya

    A fun and engaging class where you will delve into the depths of the Ancient Maya through the use of videos, website, artefacts and more.

    As always, this block will include lots of interactive elements within the lessons, including Kahoot quizzes, live recipes and crafts.

  • Course Objectives:

    Who were the Ancient Maya?

    Where did they live and at what point in history?

    What was daily life like for the Mayans, including their jobs, beliefs and homes.

    Learn about Mayan gods and how they believed the Earth was created. What evidence do we have which has helped us learn about this incredible civilization?

    Study Ancient Mayan art, architecture, literature and number systems.

    Lots to pack in as always!

    Specialist Resources Needed:

    We will be having a go at making Ancient Mayan hot chocolate, so you will need coco powder, milk, chilli powder and cinnamon.

    Card, paint, glue and coloured paper to make a Mayan mask.

Primary History Tutor

Hi! I’m Sarah and I teach Primary History on The Hub and am currently working on a new exciting recording ready for after Christmas. I’m a mum of two young boys and have been a primary teacher for 15 years (how time flies!) After spending the last 10 years teaching Year 6 in a junior school I now work mainly with young people and adults with a variety of different educational needs, either 1-to-1 or delivering group workshops. I’m loving this new challenge in addition to my work at The Hub! Above all, my aim is to work creatively to make lessons fun and engaging- I think we all learn more that way!

  • How do I access the live sessions?

    You will receive a confirmation email from Zoom, containing details of your live registration.

    You will also have a reminder one hour before the start of each class.

    The live session can be accessed from the 'Join Webinar' button in these emails.

  • I've missed a session, can I have the recording?

    All recordings are uploaded within 24 hours to here - your dashboard - so you can watch whenever is convenient.
