  • The First World War

A fun and engaging class where you will delve into the depths of the First World War through the use of videos, website, artefacts and more. As always, this block will include lots of interactive elements within the lessons, including Kahoot quizzes, a live recipe and crafts.

  • In this block we will learn how the First World War began and which people and countries it involved. We will learn about life on the front line, and how soldiers lived on the trenches. We will learn all about propaganda and how this represents war in a very different way to reality. We will also learn about life back home in Britain, including women's contribution to the war effort and baking our own 'trench cake.' Finally, we will learn how the war ended and learn about Remembrance Day, including a poppy craft.

Tutor

Sarah .

Primary History Tutor

Hi! I’m Sarah and I teach Primary History on The Hub and am currently working on a new exciting recording ready for after Christmas. I’m a mum of two young boys and have been a primary teacher for 15 years (how time flies!) After spending the last 10 years teaching Year 6 in a junior school I now work mainly with young people and adults with a variety of different educational needs, either 1-to-1 or delivering group workshops. I’m loving this new challenge in addition to my work at The Hub! Above all, my aim is to work creatively to make lessons fun and engaging- I think we all learn more that way!

“The group is wonderful, the classes are great, the teachers are awesome and my kids feel they belong to a community. They've made real friends with whom they spend hours chatting and playing. I don't know what I would have done if I didn't find this group.…. you have made a gigantic difference in many people's lives and have contributed greatly to ensuring many kids enjoy studying and grow up happy and mentally healthy and that is pretty amazing.”

“You're pure genius. It’s given us a lifeline! There are no words I can say to describe just how incredible it is to have amazing teachers at our fingertips to teach my daughter (and all the other kids here). Because of YOU and all the TEACHERS here, I am able to take my daughter out of an environment that wasn’t suitable for her and still give her a good education, that's so affordable, at home where she feels safe and comfortable. ”

“The way you’ve structured The £2 Tuition Hub clearly comes from a deep and personal understanding of what anxious/ND children and young people need in order to be able to engage with and enjoy their learning. I’d honestly be lost without your work, so big thanks to you and the rest of your team. ”

“....The Enterprising minds course has helped her to be able to do a business plan and her accounts. I/ we just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to all in the hub. When we started HE 2 years ago we were thrown in it and wasn't sure that we would manage it. But the help all the Teachers have provided via the hub has really made this unfamiliar journey not only bearable, but enjoyable. ”
