Content

  • Astronauts, Aliens, and Adventures

    An exciting hands-on journey through space, perfect for wannabe space explorers! We will look at the solar system, discover the phases of the moon, launch rockets, create alien-inspired crafts, and even sample astronaut food. Activities include building a toilet roll solar system, designing and launching rockets, making moon sand, crafting an alien desk tidy, and more! Packed with fun experiments and creative projects, this block encourages curiosity, imagination, and scientific discovery. Whether they dream of being astronauts or alien hunters, every child will love this cosmic adventure!

    Aims:

    Spark curiosity and excitement about space science.

    Develop hands-on practical skills through creative and scientific activities.

    Foster imaginative thinking by exploring the possibilities of alien life and space exploration

  • Course Objectives:

    Understand the structure and scale of the solar system.

    Identify and describe the phases of the Moon.

    Explore basic principles of rocket propulsion.

    Calculate how gravity affects weight on different planets.

    Discuss life in space and challenges faced by astronauts.

    Engage in creative design by imagining alien life forms.

    Enhance fine motor skills and problem-solving abilities through craft and experimentation.

My name is Carrie Ann! I teach Primary and GCSE science in the hub. I have a degree in Biochemistry and over 16 years science teaching to my name, both in schools and the outdoor classroom. I am obsessed with making science fun for children! I want to inspire children to become scientists. Why? Because science is SO important. We need tomorrow’s: 👩‍🔬Doctors 👨‍🔬Research Scientists 👩‍🔬Engineers 👨‍🔬Inventors 👩‍🔬Nano technology experts If we can spark your child’s imagination to ask, explore, question and investigate; this becomes of a life-long skill which could lead down the path of an amazing science career. Who knows we might even have a future Nobel Prize winner?!
