    🌱 PSHE: Changing Adolescent Bodies

Growing up is an exciting journey but it can also bring lots of questions! In this 5 week Learning Show, we'll explore the physical and emotional changes that happen during puberty in a friendly, supportive and age appropriate way.

Together, we'll discover what puberty is, why our bodies change and how everyone experiences growing up differently. Along the way, we'll learn about personal hygiene, menstrual wellbeing, emotional wellbeing and healthy habits that help us look after ourselves with confidence.

Here's what we'll be getting up to each week:

    🌱 WEEK 1 - What is Puberty?

We'll begin by exploring what puberty is, why it happens and when it usually begins. Children will discover key facts about puberty, learn new vocabulary and understand that everybody grows and develops at their own pace.

👥 Week 2 – How Our Bodies Change

This week we'll explore the physical changes that happen during adolescence for both males and females. We'll discover how our bodies grow and change, while learning that every person's journey through puberty is unique.

🧼 Week 3 – Looking After Our Bodies

We'll focus on caring for ourselves during puberty by exploring personal hygiene, self care and menstrual wellbeing. Children will discover practical ways to keep their bodies healthy and understand why looking after ourselves is an important part of growing up.

    💛 Week 4 – Feelings, Emotions & Wellbeing

Growing up doesn't just change our bodies - it can change our feelings too! This week we'll explore how puberty can affect our emotions, learn healthy ways to manage big feelings and discover strategies that support positive emotional and physical wellbeing.

    🌟 Week 5 – Growing Healthy & Confident

This week, we'll explore the healthy habits that help our growing bodies and minds thrive. We'll learn about the importance of sleep, healthy eating, exercise and self care, before reflecting on everything we've discovered over the last 5 weeks.

By the end of the Learning Show, children will have developed a greater understanding of puberty, body changes, emotional wellbeing and healthy lifestyles, helping them feel more informed, confident and prepared for adolescence.

I can't wait to explore this important journey of growing up together and celebrate everything learners discover along the way! 🌈✨

Hi, I’m Hannah! I’m a primary school teacher, specialising in the early years (ages 3-7).
I qualified in 2013 from Bath Spa University and have taught throughout the EYFS, KS1 and KS2 ever since, coordinating many subjects including maths, science and PE. In 2018, I completed my NASENCO award and worked as a SENCO, supporting many wonderful families, alongside teaching.
I live by the sea in Weston super Mare with my husband, toddler daughter and two cheeky pugs. Since becoming a Mummy, I have realised how quickly our children grow up so have recently started teaching part time to enjoy this precious time with my daughter.
I love sharing my passion for teaching with those of you in the Hub – it really is the highlight of my working week!
